Activities on your Doorstep

Whilst the sun was shining at the weekend, my wife & I took advantage of enjoying the Elmer’s Big Parade (trail). For eight weeks (until 9th June 2024) Blackpool becomes home to Elmer the Elephant sculptures, all uniquely designed by artists from across the UK and positioned all over the town. It is an event in aid of Brian House Children's Hospice, a wonderful charity on the Fylde Coast, which I have had pleasure in raising funds for before through running events.

Needless to say, being competitive and focused, there was no doubt that all 71 elephant sculptures would be found. The handy app on the phone made sure that was also the case!

Not only was it great to see all the different designs of the elephants, but also great to be walking in the Spring sunshine along the Fylde coast - managing to tally up nearly 40,000 steps on the day. I know how lucky I am to have so many events that take place near my home town, and try to support them whenever I can.

The sculptures will all come together at the iconic Blackpool Tower after the event, before being auctioned off to the public. My fingers are also crossed, to hopefully be lucky and win one of the sculptures via the raffle prize draw taking place on 27th June – I think it would look great at MAUN HQ!
